ShowJumping - 3rd Leg .. back on track

Well, last week we had the third leg of our showjumping league. I again had Teachai who was in much better form than the previous week. He had gone earlier so I didn't do too much to warm him up. I jumped the crosspole a couple of times and then put it together with the vertical. We were reasonably happy with the 2nd effort over the vertical so decided to stop and wait for our turn to go jumping. I managed to jump the first round clear , despite the odd rattle. We rattled the last fence but the poles stayed in place. The rider that went before me had gone with a blistering pace, with a very nice tight line from fence 1 to fence 2 cutting out about half the arena. There wasn't really any where else to make up time, so I intended taking the same route, but I realised I couldn't turn inside the fence in front of me comfortably, so I went around it, effectively taking the next shortest route. There was possibly one other place to potentially save time but it looked very awkward so I didnt go for it. I just kept the pace up without forcing it, and we came home in around 37 seconds, which was good enough for 2nd Place and a good 10 seconds ahead of 3rd and 4th who were less than a second apart, but a full 7 seconds behind first place.
The last leg, which is not until the end of June, is now crucial in deciding the Outcome of this League with myself and one rider in a joint lead with 1 first and 1 second place each.
