I managed to win a freeroll on BoylePoker on Monday Night. Ironically at this stage, I hadn't
watched any mtt videos on Pokerswat. It was the $600 gtd boylepoker freeroll. These are a bit
unusual, as you are allowed one rebuy and one add-on (for which you have to contribute cash).
Its an unusual idea but it does swell the prizepool. I Played really well, and took the add-
on at the break. This was a good decision as I did get short stacked, and was down to 4 BB's
on the final table at one stage. I cashed for $251.10c so made a big profit of $246.10.
I have since watched a couple of MTT videos (Jon Spinks and Andy Ward), and both videos were worth watching. Andy Wards video brought home to me, the one thing I haven't been doing and that is getting organised, eg tracking my results. I have since started a spreadsheet and just to make things easier , everything starts from the 1st Feb.
I play quite a lot on BoylePoker for a number of reasons, and that really started with them sponsoring the IPO tournament last year. I'm on the heating-up VIP level, and seem to just about make that status by the end of each month. This is quite important as there are good value points tournaments which you cannot play if you're still at the basic level.
I did manage to cash in another MTT, but I really played one hand very badly which probably cost me a potential final table. A shortie pushes all-in and is called by one player behind who has a big stack. I'm in the BB and I have to call shorties all in for an extra 20 chips.
The flop comes down giving me top pair but the big stack min bets on a very drawy board.
he then min bets the turn which I call again. The river pairs the Q on the flop and the river bet is fairly large but player doesn't go all in. He's not folding to any push by me, so I called the bet and lost to a set of Q's.
I know I played the hand terribly, and made an awful call on the river but I wouldn't have been in the pot if I hadn't been in the big blind.
