100 Sit and Go challenge - Completed

I did something like this before playing $5.50 sit and goes on pokerstars.
I ended up with a return on investment of 28.5 % netting me a profit of $156.50

Unfortunately poker has got a lot harder, and my bankroll has got considerably smaller, so this is my way back to becoming profitable.

Well, I have played 10 Single Table Sit and Goes on Ful Tilt and I am really happy with the way things are going.   I have almost  doubled my Full Tilt  bankroll and have a fantastic ROI Return on Investment of 96.4% with an in the money Percentage of 70%.    Of course I am running very good, and am getting those vital suck-outs when I need them.  Here is my Graph from Holdem Manager showing the first 10 Tournaments played, and also showing the Luck adjusted winnings.

100 Sit and Go Challenge - First 10 Tournaments

The Chart on the left is showing how often I finish in each position. I did make one really bad decision, where I raised QQ utg and got reraised.  I considered just flat calling, and folding if there was an A or K on board, but decided to shove all in, only to be called by AA.  There was an A on the flop as well, so I could have got away from it. This was my 8th place finish, which is the worst finish I have had so far.  What I am really pleased about, is the way I am able to hang in with a Short Stack.   I had one nasty outdraw in the very last tournament, where my AQ shove all in over a raise was called by A7 suited.  The river card was a 7, which left me very short stacked.  I managed to double up, survive a few orbits, and eventually finished second, when the river card gave my opponent two pair. I had 2nd pair on the flop and he had 3rd pair.

I am now a quarter of the way through this challenge, having played 25 games. As expected, I could not sustain a 96% ROI and in fact from tourney's 11-20, I achieved a mere 22% ROI.  This is just about okay.
What I have noticed is that my ROI drops dramatically when I multi-table and the more tables I add the more the ROI drops.  Some of this was due to bad play on my part, or playing when not really in the correct frame of mind.

I am still running well  above EV, however I'm not really sure how accurate the EV can be in a Sit n Go Tournament.    Basically I am now $74.00 in profit, so hopefully I will hit the $150 mark by the time I get to 50 tournaments.

30 Down 70 to Go

Well, I have now completed 30 tournaments and am still running above ev according to Holdem Manager.
What is more interesting is to see the trend graph.

Trending Graph for Sit n Go Challenge

Already we can start to see a convergence, and the ev line is getting closer to the actual ROI. Of course 30 games is a very small sample. I am still happy enough with the ROI, and the $105 profit.

Tourney's 30 to 40

EEK! Variance bites back.  I only made 1 cash for 2nd place in tourney's 31 to 40. I also had 2 bubbles. This group has been my worst sit and go run ever.  Whenever I got the cards in ahead I got outdrawn.  Totally soul destroying at present.  Admittedly part of it has been bad play by myself. I seem to be lacking some patience.  Since I'm well ahead of schedule I may give this a break for a day or two.

Downswing

My ROI has dropped to 28.9% and ITM is down to 42.9%

Half-way through

Well, it is now half way through the month, and I have overcome the bad run, with a nice hot streak.
I think I had 5 cashes out of the first six in that session, and one other bubble , but finished it up with a win.
I actually suspected that the guy I was playing heads up was mass multitabling, due to his slow responses, and so I searched for his alias and he was playing in about 10 tournaments.  I decided to take advantage of this fact and made more raises heads up.  I finally got him when I hit two pair on the flop which turned into a full house.
I think the main reason for the success is that I appear to be turning almost half of my cashes into wins.

Here are the graphs at the half way point

.
3/4 of the way their

Well, I managed another 25 games since the last posting, and am still in healthy profit, but my ROI has dropped down to 33.1% and the In the Money % has dropped to 46.7%.  Although I have had a few cashes, I am now struggling to get first places.  1 have not finished first since tournament 60, and some of this
has to do with increasing the number of tables I have been playing since Black Friday.   The Other element, is that I have made some poor decisions, and it has cost me.    Black Friday for the unaware was last Friday April 15th 2011 when 3 major poker sites have effectively been accused of money laundering.  As a result of indictments brought about by the FBI, these sites are no longer facilitating Real money play from United States Residents.   Ah yes, you can carry a loaded Gun, but you can't place a bet online.   And they call it the land of the Free.   I am now finding these games much more of a struggle, as there tends to be more players lasting through to the later levels.   When blinds are at 80, 160 and there are still 7 players left, it gets very tedious.

As you can see, I got my winnings up to $170 but have had another downswing and am now at $136. However at this stage, I am guaranteed a profit even if I do not cash in another tournament.

90 Out of 100 completed:  - Big Downswing

Well , I suffered a massive downswing sicne black friday and it has continued.  Unfortunately, we have lost a lot of the fish from the pool.   As a result of this, there are now more regulars at my tables,  and this makes it much harder to cash, let alone win.  The games have now ceased to be enjoyable, and to be honest I just want to get this over and done with now. It would be nice if I could claw back some of the profit I had earlier.
Roi has dropped way down to 22.7% and effectively I am now losing money each session I play, or have done pretty much since Black Friday.  I've only got 10 more games to go, so thats going to cost $55.   I of course can't blame it all on Black Friday, but I am definitely not running as good as I was earlier.  Part of the problem  is now just wanting to finish off as soon as possible.  But I have pretty much lost $60 in the last 30 tournaments, effectively losing $2 per tournament.

Big Downswing

It's Finally  over

Yes, thats it folks, The Challenge has now ended and I can report that I managed a ROI of 21.9% and cashed in 42 tournaments. The really pleasing thing is out of the 42 tournaments I won 18 of them.

I managed to win 2 of the last 10 and finished 3rd in two others, which menat I made a small profit out of this set.    Black Friday was really a curse, as the volume of fish dried up and you end up in a crap shoot with blinds at 120, 240 with 6 players left.  The last two I made two really bad calls . The first one I raised A7s, got shoved on.  I got called to be shown pocket Q's but the flop  gave me a flush draw. The Q clubs on the
river looked to have saved me but the flop had paired so I lost to a full house.

So on the  positives side,  I made a profit.  In fact I trebled my Tilt bankroll
I did run well above EV but how accurate is EV for a sit and go?
I think impatience and the desire to get the challenge finished also had a negative impact on the results.
