Poker Update
I had a good weekend at the poker tables , final tabling 3 of the mtt's played and cashing in another. I won one tournament on ipoker (A Boylepoker 500 FPP freeroll for VIP level 2 or above) for a $100.
I also final tabled two betfair super turbo's finshing 2nd in the $10+1 buyin for $81+ and 6th in a $5 + 50c buyin winning $40+ so all in all about $200 profit in MTT's
I generally only ever shove or fold in super turbo's , but the first super turbo I got dealt AA under the gun. I just limped in, and a Player raised, and another player called. I shoved all in at this point. The original raiser called and the caller folded. My AA fortunately stood up.
That put me in a good position, and then its just a case of picking your spots, and hoping not to get called or outdrawn by a bigger stack.
In the second super turbo, I got lucky early on and built up a big stack. I made the money fairly comfortably, but probably played over tight. I doubled up off the big stack but It was quite hard to get my chips in first. I had two problems: The big stack was hyperaggresive and I couldn't pck on the short stacks because they were pot committed and I was just being dealt trash.
My last hand, I shoved in with A6 from early position with about 20K. The blinds were 5000, 10000 with chip leader in BB. He of course called with KQ suited and picked up a flush draw. He Hit his Q on the river. At the time I thought I had enough chips to make him fold as he only had about 7 BB's but obviously it was not the case.
The Boyle Freeroll had 10 minute blinds and about 35 runners with the prizepool being $250 and top 5 players paid. I made a few chips, and then lost a lot of them to a rivered flush. I still had plenty of chps with respect to the blinds. I managed to claw myself back up and eventually make the final table. There was a long bubble , with short stacks winning the all ins. With 3 left, I was the short stack but there was a clash between the two bigger stacks so I found myself heads up with a 4-1 chip disadvantage.
I shoved light a couple of times and these got through. I was behind in chips all the way except for the last three hands. I shoved AT and got called by A9 and AT held. This put me into chip lead. I folded to a shove next hand and then on final hand shoved 36 and got called by JJ but I luckily flopped a straight which held up despite a J on the river.
I played the 2K gtd this morning (Sunday) and managed a small cash. I then played the 15K gtd and ended up about 400 places off the money. I really didn't get any decent cards, and I went out with QQ vs AA , QQ being the biggest pocket pair I had all tournament.
Horse-Riding
We have a different instructor this term, and I think he(Brendan) is much better than the previous Instructor. I am pretty sure that my Standard of riding is improving already. At the end of each lesson, you have to assess what you did well and what you did badly.
Also I got to ride a new horse on thursday called Buddy. He was a very nice forward going horse, but I had a little trouble stopping him.
Today we had the start of the Winter Dressage League and I ended up finishing Joint 2nd. I was pleased with this result, as I didn't spend too much time warming up as the weather was not great and the horse(Teachai) had been once before.
Work Update
There have been developments at work. Essentially the Company I work for has been sold to a large French company and we have transferred our employment to the new company. This means that our jobs are a lot more secure, because we were certainly in a precarious position before.
