Photoscape

I have found some great little utilities and programs over time. One of the most recent is photoscape which is an easy to use image editor. I had been looking for something relatively straightforward to use, to help my father out with his genealogy project.

Th requirements were basically to be able to crop pictures and be really userfriendly. Other software I looked at, may have been more sophisticated and had more features, but this is one program I can highly recommend.

One of the features is a link to pictrieve which is an internet based application. Essentially you load a picture where you can see someones eyes. It then guesses their age. Depending on the picture quality, it can be quite accurate. The other thing it does is load pictures related to the one you loaded and determines the percentage match accuracy.

I don't know much about the pictures it matches against, but I would assume they are pictures of celebrities. I find it highly entertaining to use this, especially when the age range of the same person can vary widely. Oh, it also guesses the sex of the person and gives it's percentage confidence
